adventure. On this special tour of Puerto Plata’s historic Victorian district, you will make stops at Ft San Felipe for

and pre-Colombian history. You will stroll along famous, colorful Umbrella Street – filled with vibrant sights and sounds,

You will also stop for photos at Paseo de Dona Blanca or “Pink Street”. You will then make your way to “Parque

Independencia” (Emancipation Park/Central Park). Once at Independence Park you will learn about Puerto Plata’s

Victorian architecture and restoration history as well as visit the San Felipe de Apostol cathedral. After a bit of free-

time in the park, you will make your way to the Amber Museum. Inside the museum, a historic, Victorian house - you

will find the largest amber exhibition in the country. The Dominican Republic has one of the most important amber

deposits in the world due to the unique blue, green and warm honey colors. It is said that Steven Spielberg was

inspired by this museum when he was working on his famous film Jurassic Park. through a decree, which became

law on June 29th, 1912. Making your way back to Umbrella Street, you will be treated to an “Empanada en el Mano”

(Empanada-in-the-hand) as well as a sample of fine, Dominican coffee. While in the historic district you will also visit a

quaint chocolatier where you will learn about the cacao grown in the Dominican Republic and then sample the fine,

finished product. Adjacent to the Amber Museum is the Cigar House where you will witness the hand-rolling process of

the famous Dominican cigars. You will then reboard your transportation for the scenic drive along the Atlantic

Boardwalk called, the “Malecon” stopping at the historic Cuerpo de Bomberos or National Fire Brigade, founded by

national hero general from Puerto Plata Gregorio Luperón. Your final stop will be at Playa Dorada where you can stretch

your legs as you enjoy the fresh sea air and ocean views as you sip a complimentary rum punch provided by your tour

host before returning to your port.
